Russia will always be a reliable partner for Western colleagues , despite political troubles, Vladimir Putin said on August 1 at the meeting on the development of the metallurgical industry. The Russian president warned that Moscow is not going to work to its own detriment - neither in the metallurgical industry, nor in other areas. He called for help for the domestic metallurgy in the face of unprecedented sanctions.
Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, in particular, proposed adjusting the excise tax on liquid steel. The expert community rated this idea positively. They recalled that this indirect tax was introduced during the prosperity of the industry, but now the situation is different and that they have to deal with external pressure.
At the meeting, the President again reminded that Russia will always be a reliable supplier of metallurgical products for foreign partners. And this, according to him, will not be affected by political troubles. He also underlined Moscow is not going to work to its own detriment - neither in the metallurgical industry, nor in other areas.
According to Denis Manturov, exports of the Russian metallurgical industry in the second quarter of this year decreased by about 20%, and capacity utilization fell from 93 to 80%.
Some iron-steel producers, such as NLMK, MMK, Tula-Stal, Novostal-M, generally worked with negative profitability in June-July, and the management of enterprises plans to keep jobs in the short term, he specified. According to the minister, it is possible by maintaining demand for products, as well as by reducing the fiscal burden.
