Ukraine produced 1.81 million tonnes of crude steel in the first four months of 2023, a 46% year-over-year decline. The fourth-largest steel plant in Ukraine and a member of the Metinvest Group, Zaporizhstal, produced about 647,000 tons of steel at the same time, a 10.3% decrease from the previous year.
In April, steel production in Ukraine amounted to 574,000 tons, an increase of 8.9% from the previous month. In the meantime, April saw a 16.7% m/m increase in iron production, reaching about 544,000 tons.
