Demand from the automotive industry supported the cold rolled and galvanized coil market in the US. Cold rolled and galvanized coil prices continued to rise.
Driven by the current shortage of semiconductor chips, demand slowed and there was some uncertainty for shipping. Therefore, it seems that prices will not increase any further in a short time.
Although demand from the automotive industry is the dominant player at this stage, sources said scrap prices may continue to decline over the next few months. Combined with the semiconductor chip uncertainty, the sheet and plate market will temporarily stabilize.
