POSCO and ADNOC to collaborate

POSCO INTERNATIONAL and Abu Dhabi's state-owned oil company ADNOC are collaborating on clean hydrogen production. POSCO's Gwangyang LNG Terminal will play a central role in hydrogen production, aiming to supply 1.26 million tons of clean hydrogen to South Korea by 2035.

POSCO and ADNOC to collaborate

Today, POSCO INTERNATIONAL signed a strategic collaboration agreement with ADNOC for clean hydrogen production. The agreement includes hydrogen production using LNG, carbon capture, and storage.

The project will be implemented at the Gwangyang LNG Terminal, with hydrogen supplied to demand sources such as Gwangyang Steelworks, Hadong, and Yeosu.

This collaboration supports POSCO Group's efforts to accelerate the transition to clean energy and contribute to low-carbon production. According to plans announced last year, POSCO aims to supply 540,000 tons to Gwangyang, 360,000 tons to Incheon, and 360,000 tons to Pohang.

Lee Jun-Hyuk, President of the Energy Division at POSCO INTERNATIONAL, stated, "Gwangyang serves as POSCO's main hub and will provide clean hydrogen production infrastructure through an LNG Terminal. In the future, we will continue to supply clean hydrogen to Gwangyang and surrounding areas to contribute to the development of South Korea's hydrogen industry."
