The National Tariff Commission of Pakistan has launched an anti-circumvention investigation into galvanized steel coils and sheets imported from China. This step follows an application filed by local producers International Steels Limited and Aisha Steel Mills Limited (ASML) on June 28, 2024. The investigation targets steel products with a thickness of 0.15 mm to 2.75 mm and a width of 600 mm or more.
The investigation aims to establish whether Chinese exporters and manufacturers have circumvented anti-dumping duties by making minor modifications to galvanized steel coils and sheets. It focuses particularly on products coated with zinc and aluminum through hot dip galvanization and sometimes containing small amounts of other metals.
The products in question fall under the following Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) headings:
7210.6110, 7210.6190, 7210.6910 and 7210.6990.
These products include only minimally modified galvalume steel coils and sheets.
The investigation period covers from April 1, 2017, to March 31, 2024, with a conclusion expected within nine months of the notice's publication.
