The National Statistics Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic has published data characterizing the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic in 2023. According to these data, the production of basic metals in the country decreased by 12.8% over the year. This reduction is due to problems at the country's largest gold deposit, Kumtor, where gold reserves suitable for open-pit mining are being depleted, and the organization of underground mining requires serious investment. Kumtor has not yet published exact data on production last year.
At the same time, the country’s second most important deposit, Jerooy (developed by a subsidiary of Russian Platinum, the limited liability company Alliance Altyn), worked stably, producing more than 4.1 tons of precious metal in a year, which approximately corresponds to the level of 2022.
