Sales of rolled longs were roughly unchanged from the prior quarter. They partially redirected shipments of rebar and other products to the CIS markets because of the favorable margins there during the reporting period.
Sales of shapes and sections produced by Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant's universal rolling mill, including structural beams, went up by 16% quarter-on-quarter. Sales of rolled flats rose by 6% from one quarter to the next as a result of increased production of these goods at the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant.
The company's total sales of long steel products decreased by 2 percent quarter on quarter to 595 thousand tonnes, however sales of flat steel products increased 6 percent quarter on quarter to 111 thousand tonnes.
Pig iron production volume was 835 thousand tonnes, while steel production totaled 906 thousand tonnes in the first quarter of 2023.
