Malaysia initiates review of anti-dumping duties on stainless steel imports

Malaysia's Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) has initiated an administrative review to review anti-dumping duties on imports of cold-rolled stainless steel originating from China, Indonesia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. The review applies to products in coils, sheets, or other forms.

This decision follows reports received by the government indicating that Bahru Stainless Sdn Bhd, the applicant in the original anti-dumping case, ceased its production activities on June 30, 2024. The suspension of operations by Bahru Stainless prompted MITI to reassess the need for existing anti-dumping measures on these imports.

Interested parties and stakeholders are invited to submit written comments and evidence to MITI by November 15, 2024. If the necessary information or feedback is not received within this period, the ministry will make its decisions on the review based on the available information.

The affected stainless steel products are categorized under the HS codes 72193100, 72193200, 72193300, 72193400, 72193500, 72202010, and 72202090. The review aims to determine the future of duties applied to imports from the specified countries, which were initially imposed to protect local industry from unfair pricing practices.
