Türkiye’s local rebar prices continue their upward trend due to increasing production costs. Compared to last week, prices have risen by $15-20/ton, fluctuating between $570-590/ton depending on the region. Prices in İzmir remain at $570/ton, while in the Marmara region, they range between $585-590/ton. Although İçdaş has kept its official price at $580/ton, market transactions indicate purchases at $575/ton.
The primary driver behind these price increases is the rising cost of scrap. A market source speaking to SteelRadar highlighted that producers have delayed securing scrap at desired prices, stating, "The main reason is scrap prices. Let’s call it a cost increase."
Construction season begins, mixed expectations in the market
While no new export offers have emerged yet, domestic demand remains weak. However, some market participants believe that seasonal factors could gradually revive demand.
With the construction season starting, some market activity is expected. Higher production costs, rising scrap prices, and increased commercial activity could support prices. In the coming period, developments in both the domestic and export markets will be key factors in price trends.
