Latin America's steel production is expected to slow this year and recover in 2024, according to the Latin American Association of Steel Producers (ALACERO).
In June, steel production reached 4.6 million tons, a 14.8% decrease from the previous year and 7.4% from the previous month. The second quarter saw a 10.4% decrease and a 0.3% decrease, the worst quarterly result since the third quarter of 2020.
The economic scenario in Latin America is characterized by global uncertainty and structural issues, with the slowdown expected to continue until the end of this year.
