Korea and Japan to collaborate on environmentally friendly steel

The Korea Iron and Steel Association and Japan Iron and Steel Federation have made a significant advancement in the global steel market by deciding to collaborate to promote environmentally friendly steel production. The leading organizations in the steel sectors of both countries aim to take significant steps towards a sustainable future with this collaboration.

Korea and Japan to collaborate on environmentally friendly steel

Korea Iron and Steel Association Steel Promotion Committee held the '2024 Steel Promotion Committee Board of Directors' meeting. At the meeting, it was decided that the main business direction of this year was determined as 'strengthening the content to introduce the excellence of steel to the public' and it was decided to carry out certain projects together with the member companies. Members of the public relations committee of six member companies, including POSCO, Hyundai Steel, Husteel and TCC Steel, attended the meeting.

The primary objective of the collaboration is to enhance steel production in a way that aligns with a carbon-neutral future and minimizes environmental impacts. To achieve this goal, various areas of collaboration are planned, including information and technology sharing, research and development initiatives, and joint investments between the steel sectors of the two countries.

As the initial phase of collaboration, a promotional exchange meeting will be organized between the Korea and Japan Steel Associations. During this meeting, the current status and future goals of the steel sectors in both countries will be discussed, and joint projects for environmentally friendly steel production will be developed.

The Chairman of the Steel Promotion Committee emphasized the stable execution of projects undertaken in the past year and expressed anticipation for the more active implementation of various projects highlighting the role and value of steel in everyday life.

The collaboration between Korea and Japan's Steel Associations holds great importance for the future of the global steel industry. This partnership will not only benefit the two countries but will also have an impact on the entire world, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
