Kemalpaşa Organized Industrial Zone (KOSBİ), which is İzmir's largest organized industrial zone, aims to provide better service to the industrialists of the region by completing most of its infrastructure investments in 2023. Stating that they will continue their investments in 2023 without interruption, Chairman of the Board Erol Diren pointed out that investments in the region are increasing day by day.
Stating that an additional investment of approximately $100 million is needed, Diren said that the approval process continues to meet $20 million of this investment from the World Bank. Stating that they have entered an intensive investment process since 2021, Erol Diren said, “We accelerated our infrastructure investments.
We have completed the first two stages of the subdivision plans in our region, which consists of three parts. Our industrialists started their investments in these areas. We are working to complete the 3rd stage parcellation works in 2023."
Diren, who said that Kemalpaşa OIZ is the largest OIZ in İzmir with its 1300 hectare area, said, “We have 518 parcels full and 630 parcels have parcels to invest in. Last year, 130 factories received their licenses to make new investments and started their investments.
With the new licenses, the number of our factories and the number of employees employed in the region also increased. Currently, there are approximately 26,500 employees in the region." Stating that a 'Logistics Village' project will be implemented with the cooperation of EBSO, İZTO and EİB besides the borders of Kemalpaşa OIZ, Diren stated that with the project in which infrastructure investments are completed, industrialists will reach Çandarlı Port by rail transport.
Diren said, “We expect the Logistics Village to be activated soon. This will be an export base of İzmir. The railways here will connect to Çandarlı Port. It is planned to connect a line to Alsancak Port in the future."
Diren also mentioned that the economic uncertainties that have been going on since the pandemic should be eliminated as soon as possible and the problems in front of investors and producers should be eliminated, “The current situation pushes those who want to invest in waiting. Industrialists cannot find resources, have difficulty in turning their businesses around, companies must do their due diligence. There is uncertainty in the general course of the economy. These problems need to be resolved as soon as possible."
