JSPL receives approval to produce India's first fire-resistant steel structures

With the production of a special steel product in India for the first time, the company will target segments such as refineries, bridges, metro projects, industrial structures, steel, power plants, hospitals, commercial and residential buildings, JSPL said in a statement.

JSPL has received BIS certification to produce India's first fire-resistant steel structures at its railway factory in Chhattisgarh. It was stated that BIS 15103 quality steel structure products are designed to withstand temperatures up to 600 degrees Celsius for 3 hours.

The company also said that the new quality steel structures will help the country reduce dependence on imports.

Bimlendra Jha, Managing Director of Jindal Steel and Power, said the license to produce Fire-Resistant Steel will open an avalanche in strengthening India's infrastructure and safety standards. He added that the fire-resistant steel will provide much-needed assurance for fire safety to the end users and will build a safer AtmaNirbhar Bharat.
