John Cockerill India, a leading company in advanced steel technologies, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) to develop sustainable and innovative green steel practices in the Indian steel industry. The partnership focuses on reducing carbon emissions and enhancing competitiveness through cutting-edge technologies.

The collaboration aims to revolutionize iron and steelmaking processes by integrating green hydrogen and leveraging advanced technologies from John Cockerill. Key initiatives include the establishment of a joint venture in cold rolling and processing for carbon steel and the incorporation of green steelmaking practices in SAIL’s future projects.

Francois David Martino, CEO and Chairman of John Cockerill India said that this partnership is an important step towards decarbonization and sustainability in the steel industry. Martino said that with the use of their technologies, they aim to both increase production efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. He also emphasized that this collaboration will provide effective solutions that will position India as a global leader in sustainable steel production.

This MoU underscores a shared commitment to addressing environmental challenges while maintaining the global competitiveness of India's steel sector. It reflects the companies' dedication to developing green technologies that drive a more sustainable and efficient steel industry.
