Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), one of the largest steel producers in India, announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Andhra Pradesh to invest Rs 10,000 to build a new steel plant with an annual production capacity of three million tons near Krishnapatnam. The project will provide more than 10,000 jobs both directly and indirectly.
JSPL will invest in renewable energy such as solar, wind and hydro and increase the capacity of the existing cement plant. In addition, the company will invest in a port and build a slurry pipeline and a micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSME) park in the province.
