This step represents JSP's efforts to increase raw material security. In addition, the mine will support the expansion of the Raigarh integrated steel plant, which currently has an annual production capacity of 3.6 million tonnes, to an annual production capacity of 9.6 million tonnes.
Bimlendra Jha, Managing Director of Jindal Steel & Power, said: "Utilising our own indigenous coal will significantly increase India's steelmaking capacity. We plan to finance this expansion primarily through internal resources and aim to maintain a solid balance sheet."
