In the statement made by Blue Origin executives, it was shared that the company has plans to establish a space station in orbit. The station, named "Orbital Reef", is scheduled to be operational in 10 years.
In promotional material released by the company, it was stated that the station will be a "mixed-use business facility" in space and can host up to 10 astronauts.
Blue Origin, which will partner with Sierra Space and Boeing to build the station, will spend $1 billion annually for the 32 thousand square meter station.
Although the International Space Station will end its life in 2030, some problems have arisen recently.
Russian officials had previously said that their cosmonauts could leave the station by 2025, out of fear that old equipment could trigger a major incident.
