According to the data provided by JISF (The Japan Iron and Steel Federation), Japan's iron and steel product exports amounted to 2.85 million mt in June 2023, down 8 percent from June 2022 and down 6 percent compared to May 2023.
In the January-June 2023 period, exports of iron and steel products decreased by 2 percent year on year and amounted to 16 million mt.
Looking at the first six months of 2023, Japan's exports to South Korea increased by 6 percent year on year to 3 million mt; Its exports to China are 1.40 million mt, down 34 percent year on year; Exports to Taiwan fell 19 percent to 821,303 metric tons; Exports to Thailand totaled 2.42 million mt, down 7 percent year on year.
