In April this year, domestic consumption of steel products in Japan was 3.73 million tonnes, down 4.8% from March and up 8.1% y-o-y.
Meanwhile, from January to April this year, the country's domestic steel consumption decreased by 8.6% y-o-y to 14.87 million tonnes.
In the first month of the year, Japan's consumption of steel products in the construction sector decreased by 12.5% y-o-y to 3 million tonnes, while Japan's consumption of steel products in the automotive sector reached 3.63 million tonnes, down 1.2% y-o-y.
During the period, Japan's shipbuilding industry consumed 965.04 tonnes of steel products, up 1% y-o-y.
