Exports of ferrous scrap from Japan in May 2023 amounted to 591,779 tons, up 5.2% compared to 562,286 tons in the same month of 2022, while a month earlier it was at the level of 560,176 tons. In the five months since the beginning of this year, the exports increased by 6.4% on an annual basis to 2.83 million tons.
In January-May of this year, 1,203,261 tons of scrap were sent from Japan to South Korea, with a decrease of 18.3%, 674,897 tons to Vietnam, with an increase of 12.1%, and Taiwan, 378,277 tons, with an increase of 93.1% (all comparisons on an annual basis).
