According to the information shared by JISF (Japan Iron and Steel Federation), Japan's crude steel production in July 2023 increased by 0.8 percent compared to June and increased by 0.9 percent compared to July 2022, reaching 7.39 million tons.
Crude steel production recorded an increase for the first time since December 2021, with the impact of the recovery in the automotive manufacturing industry.
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) forecasted in early July that Japan’s crude steel production will grow by 2.2% year on year in the third quarter, supported by a modest recovery in auto production and rising exports.
