It was decided to open Rolling Mill and Smelting departments in vocational high schools

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Karabük Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KTSO) Chairman of the Board of Directors Fatih Cross spoke as follows: “The Rolling course in the Metallurgy Field, in the Smelting branch, was taught for 2 hours in a week theoretically, and it did not fully meet the requirements of Rolling Mill. Approximately 3,500 workers are employed in 22 rolling mills in our province and around 6,000 in KARDEMİR. The existing Smelter graduates could not be employed in these workplaces. Again, 12th grade students studying in the smelting branch cannot go to the rolling mills within the scope of skills training in Businesses. Theoretical knowledge alone is not enough to have knowledge, skills and equipment in a branch. At the same time, besides theoretical knowledge, applied knowledge must be given.

Cross said that as a result of the requests of the rolling mill operators and the researches made by the provincial directorate of national education, it was understood that there was a need for intermediate staff in the field of rolling mills.

Indicating that companies have made a request for the opening of a Rolling Mill Branch, cross said, "The demands of the companies in question were discussed at the vocational and technical education school board meetings held in the previous periods in cooperation with the school sector, and the Provincial Employment and Vocational Education Board Meetings held in January 2020-January. opinion has been given," he said.

Qualified manpower will be trained in the steel industry

In his speech, Provincial Director of National Education Nevzat Akbaş talked about the steps they took to train qualified manpower in the iron and steel industry and said: “Qualified and well-equipped students are trained in vocational high schools where the production torch is lit. Gaining rolling mill department in Karabük; will strengthen education, employment and production relations. Our vocational high schools produced stoves and overalls for both mask production, disinfectant production during pandemic periods, and earthquake victims in Kahramanmaraş-Pazarcık-Elbistan regions. Vocational high schools are always very important in the development of our country. Business people from Karabük supported the vocational training programs initiated by our Ministry”.
