Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade Seyed Mohammad Atabak addressed the challenges faced by the Iranian steel industry at the inauguration ceremony of the “Khayyam Sepehr Steel Plant” in Neyshabur. He emphasized the importance of removing investment barriers and creating a safe environment for the industry. Atabak called on the Ministry of Energy officials to honor their commitments to provide the necessary electricity for the steel industry. He also noted that despite the high potential of the sector, last year's energy imbalance reduced the country's steel production efficiency to 61%.
Atabak pointed to Khorasan Razavi's significant steel production capacity and its proximity to countries such as Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, saying that this region can play an important role in Iran's exports. He predicted that as production efficiency is increased and value-added products are produced, this region's exports could exceed USD 2 billion and Khorasan Razavi could rise from fifth to third place in the country's export rankings.
Finally, Minister Atabak noted that Iran's steel industry ranked 10th in the global rankings after the revolution, stressing that this sector is vital for the country's economic growth. He expressed hope that the development of the steel industry will be sustained through continued cooperation and removal of obstacles.
