Iran's steel industry continues its upward trajectory, with the latest statistics from the Iranian Steel Producers Association revealing a robust performance in exports. Over the eleven-month period of the Iranian year, total steel exports, including both semifinished and finished products, soared to 10.256 million tons, marking a significant milestone for the country's steel sector.
Of this total, semifinished products emerged as the driving force behind the export surge, reaching a remarkable volume of 7.102 million tons. This represents a notable 6.8% increase compared to the same period last year. The growth in semifinished products exports is primarily attributed to a substantial surge in slab exports, which witnessed an impressive 30% uptick.
In terms of specific steel products, long steel products contributed 2.714 million tons to the export volume, demonstrating an 8.6% growth trajectory. Rebar exports also showed resilience, with a 5.8% increase in volume, despite a slight decline in export value.
Flat steel exports experienced a commendable 5.5% rise, totaling 440,000 tons during the eleven-month period, with hot-rolled sheets leading the category.
Notably, the standout performer in the export landscape was sponge iron, which recorded a staggering 81.3% increase compared to the previous year, amounting to 1.394 million tons in exports.
With sustained growth and innovation, Iran's steel exports are poised to make further strides, contributing to the country's economic development and international trade prominence.
