Iran's decrease in crude steel production: Impact on global trends in 2023

The World Steel Association's latest data reveals that global crude steel production for the first seven months of this year remained steady at 1.103 billion tons, with only a marginal 0.1% decrease compared to the previous year. In this period, Iran ranked tenth in crude steel production, while China, India, Japan, the USA, Russia, South Korea, Germany, Turkey, and Brazil held the top nine positions.
Iran produced 18.1 million tons of steel during these seven months, showing a 4.1% increase from the previous year but experienced a 1.5% decline in July. India stood out with a remarkable 9% growth in steel production during this period.

Notably, China increased its steel production to 90.8 million tons in July, setting it apart from other major steel-producing nations. Overall, China remained the world's leading steel producer, with a total output of 626.5 million tons from January to July.
