Brazilian steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) plans to invest 7.9 billion reais between 2023 and 2028 to modernize its industrial park with the aim of achieving EBITDA of approximately 2.8 billion in 2028.
CSN CEO Benjamin Steinbruch said his company plans to build a new facility to increase its annual steel production capacity of 3.8 million tons to its original capacity of 5 million tons.
According to CSN's commercial director Luis Fernando Martínez, CSN has encountered operational problems this year that have limited steel production capacity at the plant. CSN expects to increase steel sales by at least 10% next year, supported by operational improvements that will eliminate production bottlenecks and reduce steel imports into Brazil.
