Green Steel Production in Mauritania
In his presentation as CEO of SNIM, Mr. Mohamed Vall Telmidy detailed the company's strategies for green steel production and its carbon emission reduction programme. Mr Telmidy explained how the increase in renewable energy sources and the prospects for natural gas and green hydrogen play a role in SNIM's sustainability goals. He also noted that the wind power plants in Nouadhibou and the solar power plants in Zoverate have made significant contributions. With these projects, SNIM aims to support its growth targets both locally and internationally.

In his presentation, Dr Anoop Nair from Mesabi Metallics USA introduced how high quality pellets are produced from low quality magnetite mineral and the state-of-the-art control belts used in this process. Emphasising the reliability of the production processes and consistent delivery of products, Dr Nair shared Mesabi's goals to increase its competitive advantage in the industry. He emphasised that high quality pellets are a critical element that increases efficiency in steel production.
