Indonesian Vice President Dr. Maruf Amin underlined that the government is intensively accelerating various infrastructure projects, including the construction of the new capital and the program to popularize electric vehicles. He noted that determination is increasingly needed, considering the needs.
At the same time, the vice president called on the leading actors of the steel industry, giving the message of immediately increasing production capacity and asking them to turn to approaches that prioritize the environment. He drew attention to developing technologies and the concept of green industry within the scope of sustainability and efforts to protect resources. He once again stated that green steel applications are a rising trend and that he expects manufacturers to take steps in line with this movement.
The year 2060 is in the targets. He added that he expects initiatives from the national steel industry implementing the green industry concept to achieve net zero emissions during this period or earlier, and wants it to become an integral part of the economy.
Amin also called on the entire steel industry to make efforts to increase the participation of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). “As an influential industry, we request the national steel industry to provide incentives through programs to promote MSMEs and support them to enter the industrial supply chain,” he said.
