Iron ore and manganese ore production in India has witnessed remarkable growth during the April-August period of FY 2024-25. According to provisional data released by the Ministry of Mines, iron ore production increased by 7.4% to 116 million tons from 108 million tons in the same period a year earlier.
During the same period, manganese ore production also increased by 15.4% to 1.5 million tons, compared to 1.3 million tons in the same period last year.
Iron ore accounts for about 70% of total mineral production by value. The ministry noted that the ongoing increase in iron ore production this financial year indicates strong demand conditions in the user industry.
