India's crude steel production remained unchanged at 12.3 million tons in July 2024 compared to the previous month, but increased by 6.8% compared to July last year, according to data from the World Steel Association (Worldsteel), SteelRadar reported. This placed India in second place in crude steel production.
India's total crude steel production in the January-July 2024 period reached 86.4 million tons, up 7.2% from the same period last year. India stood out as the country that increased its production the most after Turkey.
India is on its way to becoming a global leader in steel production with targets set to reach 300 million tons of crude steel capacity by 2030 and 500 million tons by 2047.
