India’s coal production increased by 6.48% in the first five months of the current fiscal year (April-August 2024) compared to the same period last year, reaching 384.08 million tons.
Coal India Limited (CIL), which contributes more than 80% of the country’s total coal production, recorded a 3.17% y-o-y growth by increasing its production to 290.39 million tons during April-August. Meanwhile, production from other mines also increased to 68.99 tons from 52.84 tons in the same period last year.
Total coal shipments till August reached 412.07 tons from 391.93 tons in the same period last year.
