The Istanbul Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association (IDDMİB) aims to exceed the goal of exceeding the exports of 14.4 billion dollars achieved in 2022. IDDMİB CEO Çetin Tecdelioğlu stated that the company aims to grow by 2024 in order to gain a larger share of the global market and be competitive. Tecdelioğlu explained that various trade fairs and VIP purchasing delegations had been organized to eliminate the decline in the metal sector and that although no major growth was expected in 2024 due to the restrictive monetary policy and inflationary environment, the aim was to reach the 2022 figures.
Tecdelioğlu emphasized that the company has increased its capacity through serious investments in 2021-2022 to gain a larger share of the global market in the metal industry and stated that it will try to increase its exports without decreasing them by supplying products to many countries. Tecdelioğlu pointed out that the sector will change due to technological change and post-pandemic changes and stated that it will evaluate this situation quickly by providing product diversity.
Tecdelioğlu stated that he expects the pause in the sector to end within 8 months and demands to increase again in the last quarter of 2024. He said, "I have expectations that it will end within the next 8 months and will increase in the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2024." He stated that they will continue to cooperate with exporters and ministries in this process in order to evaluate opportunities around the world and use Turkey's advantages through free trade agreements.
