According to the news on the Ege'de SonSöz website, the company submitted its revised project following its application last year and was entitled to receive permission to establish a giant hot rolling mill facility worth 847 million TL.
The facility, which will be located in Bozköy District, will produce 2.5 million tons of plain and ribbed iron bars annually. While the company presented the changes in economic conditions and the increase in iron and steel demands as reasons in its promotional file, it stated that it would supply its raw material needs from the steel mill facility.
In the application made according to the Environmental Plan for this giant investment, it was emphasized that the project area was in compliance with the 1/100,000 scale Izmir Manisa Environmental Plan.
Habaş's first application was rejected last year, but the company made its second application and increased its capacity by moving the project to a region further away from Bozköy. However, changes were made to the project following criticism at the public participation meeting that the filters were not operated and that the operation was damaging agriculture and livestock in the region.
