An important discovery was made in Bingöl for the economy of the country and the region. As a result of 162 thousand metres of drilling work, 300 million tonnes of reserves were identified.
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz announced the employment and investment-oriented project during his visit to his hometown.
Cevdet Yılmaz said, "We have discovered a very serious iron ore in our Servi region. Up to 800 million dollars of investment is planned in the first stage. Hopefully, this project will start in the next short term. It will add value not only to Bingöl but also to Turkey. This project alone will reduce the current account deficit by 600 million dollars a year. It will create job and labour opportunities for many of our people."
300 MILLION TONNES OF RESERVES DETECTED
In the region where exploration works continue, 162 thousand metres of drilling work was carried out and approximately 300 million tonnes of iron ore reserves were identified. It is aimed to produce a total of 100 million tonnes of iron ore, i.e. pellets, in the facility. Technical and physical works continue in the Servi region of Genç district.
600 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR WILL REDUCE THE CURRENT ACCOUNT DEFICIT
The project, which will significantly reduce the dependence on foreign raw materials in the iron and steel sector, is aimed to be completed in a short time and the facility, where domestic and national resources will be brought to the economy, is expected to start production. When the plant starts production, it will be recorded as Turkey's largest iron ore pelletising plant.
