Zaporizhstal reports significant growth in metal production for June 2024

Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works announced a 38.7% year-on-year increase in commercial rolled metal production for June 2024, reaching 183,000 tonnes. The company also reported a 48.5% rise in steel production and a slight 0.2% increase in pig iron output.

Zaporizhstal reports significant growth in metal production for June 2024

Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works announced production results for June 2024. Thus, the production of commercial rolled metal products increased by 38.7% in June 2024 compared to June 2023, reaching 183 thousand tonnes.

The volume of pig iron smelted during the month was 237 thousand tonnes, up 0.2% year-on-year, while steel production was 236.7 thousand tonnes, up 48.5% year-on-year.
However, compared to May 2024, rolled steel production fell by 10.3%, steel by 1.5% and pig iron by 1.3%. The month-on-month decline in the company's performance continued for the second month in a row. In May, this was due to the shutdown of blast furnace No. 2 for overhaul.

In the first six months of 2024, rolled product output grew by 46.4% year-on-year to 1.23 million tonnes, compared to the same period in 2023. Pig iron output was 1.53 million tonnes, up 33.3%, and steel output was 1.49 million tonnes, an increase of 45.8% compared to the first half of 2023.

During 2023, the plant operated at an average of 70% of its capacity. In 2023, the mill produced 2.7 million tonnes ofof pig iron, 2.5 million tonnes of steel and shipped over 2 million tonnes of rolled products.
