Doka Turkey was commissioned to produce the necessary mold engineering solutions to realize the Zaha Hadid design, which will take its place among the architectural masterpieces in the world when completed. The Central Bank of Iraq Building, designed with an innovative approach, is defined as a challenging project that requires special engineering solutions due to its unusual architectural details.
Rising on the steep banks of the Tigris river in Baghdad, the new building of the Central Bank of Iraq was designed by the famous architect to represent the values at the heart of the institution, 'solidity, stability, stability and sustainability'. A new formwork structure specific to the project was produced. Underlining that it requires a formwork structure, Doka Turkey General Manager Ender Özatay said, "Doka, which has proven its competence in this field by taking part in many signature projects in the world, was preferred to develop special solutions for this giant project."
Ender Özatay explained the work they did for the project with these words: "In the project with a total area of 93 thousand 552 square meters, which is also interpreted as one of the most difficult reinforced concrete structures in the world, the Doka team was given the task of producing a special solution due to the versatility of the load-bearing structure. We designed and produced a special new climbing formwork.Starting from a BIM design, we created a formwork surface specially made for exterior walls and produced in a 3D environment that allows working with variable heights and shapes of the curved, rotating structure.Adaptable sheet formwork structure manages the amorphous shape of the building The hydraulic climbing system for the main shaft wall of the tower block was used to minimize the construction time.
" The Nestone Project, which has been realized in Abu-Dhabi Plaza in Kazakhstan, Port Baku and La Luna Hotel in Azerbaijan, and finally in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and will be the tallest building in Central Asia when completed, continues in the Istanbul Financial Center in Turkey. Ziraat Bank building, Vakıfbank building, Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey building, Northern Marmara Highway, 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, Osmangazi Bridge, İkitelli Çam and Sakura City Hospitals, Skyland İstanbul are some of the projects we are involved in with our products and solutions. Occupational safety in the project, as in each of the Doka projects, applied in the standards. Zaha Hadid's last work before her death The Central Bank of Iraq is known as the last work of the famous Iraqi-born British architect Zaha Hadid, whose designs are considered architectural masterpieces. Speaking at the official presentation of the project at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London in 2012, Zaha Hadid expressed her thoughts with these words: "I was deeply grateful when I was asked to design the new headquarters for the Central Bank of Iraq. I was born in Iraq and still feel very fond of Iraq. I feel close. I see it as a privilege to work in Iraq on such a nationally important design."
