White goods and automobile production set a record

Minister of Industry and Technology Fatih Mehmet Kacır, who came to Isparta to make various visits, made important statements at the opening of three new factories in Süleyman Demirel Organized Industrial Zone, which will operate on marble, carpet and forest products.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister Kacır stated that these facilities, with a total investment size of 1.8 billion TL, will provide employment for 160 citizens. “In line with our vision of a national technology move, we are taking decisive steps to position Türkiye among the leading countries in production, investment, R&D and innovation,” Kacır said.

Turkey is Europe's largest automobile and white goods producer

Minister Kacır emphasized the progress made in the Turkish industry in the last 22 years, noting that R&D expenditures increased from $1.2 billion to $12 billion and the number of R&D personnel increased from 29,000 to 272,000. He also stated that the number of people working in the industrial sector increased to 6.7 million, Türkiye became the third largest automobile producer in Europe and white goods production rose from 6.7 million units to 32.3 million units. Thus, “Türkiye became the largest white goods producer in Europe and the second largest in the world. Our iron and steel production increased from 16.4 million tons to 33.7 million tons.”

Kacır added that Türkiye has reached the capacity to develop and produce its own satellite technologies thanks to the investments made in recent years.

“We are taking firm steps forward on the development journey”

Referring to the projects to be realized in the Turkish Century, Minister Kacır said, “Our country continues its development journey with confident steps on the route of investments, employment, production, invention and exports. We are implementing support mechanisms that will increase the competitiveness of the Turkish industry.” Drawing attention especially to the green and digital transformation programs, he emphasized the opportunities that this transformation offers to businesses.

Kacır stated that they are working for Isparta with the understanding that “service to the people is service to God” and said that various projects will be implemented to mobilize local potential.

At the end of the meeting, it was emphasized that Isparta will become stronger in the field of industry with the opening of new facilities.
