Walsin Lihwa, a leading Taiwanese stainless steel wire rod and cable manufacturer, has decided to build a new stainless steel wire rod plant in Morowali Industrial Park, Indonesia. The company’s board of directors approved a USD 9.15 million investment in PT Walsin Everising Specialty Steel Indonesia (Walsin Everising) through its subsidiary Walsin Singapore Pte. Ltd. (WLS). This investment will increase Walsin Lihwa's stake in Walsin Everising to 51%, resulting in a total cumulative investment of approximately USD 15.3 million.
The new plant will be built in Morowali Industrial Park, Indonesia, and will focus on the production of 300 series stainless steel wire rods. These wire rods are important components used in a variety of industrial applications. The project will be implemented with the support of Mimosa International Limited, with both WLS and Mimosa providing the necessary capital.
The plant is expected to have an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons. The plant is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2026, with production starting in the first half of 2027. This strategic move aims to enhance Walsin Lihwa’s competitiveness in the global stainless steel market by optimizing costs while targeting its entry into key markets in Southeast Asia and South Asia.
