On the other hand, scrap imports increased by 2.9% monthly to 311,842 metric tons.
In the first ten months of the year, Vietnam's steel imports reached 10.6 million metric tons, increasing by 8.6% year on year, but scrap imports decreased by 6.1% year on year to 3.48 million metric tons.
China remained Vietnam's main source of steel imports. Imports from China in October increased by 172.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 859,236 tons.
After China, Japan became Vietnam's second largest source of steel imports. Imports from Japan in October increased by 10.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 161,426 tons.
