Vietnam's scrap imports decreased in September 2023 due to weak steel purchases.
According to statistics, Vietnam's scrap imports decreased by approximately 2% compared to the previous month in September 2023 and 8% compared to September 2022 due to weak steel purchases, falling to the level of 303,000 tons. The United States became the major exporter of significant amounts of scrap.
In the first nine months of 2023, Vietnam imported a total of 3.17 million tons of scrap, down 7% year-on-year.
