VSA (The Vietnam Metallurgical Association) announced that they expect an increase of around 3% in steel production in the country compared to 2022.
Looking at the 2022 data, Vietnam's steel production volume decreased by 10% compared to 2021, amounting to 19 million tons. Finished steel product consumption was recorded as 29 million units, down 11.9 percent.
In the same year, steel imports decreased by around 5% to 11.68 million tons.
Steel consumption per capita was 240 kg.
In addition to these decreases, VSA expects an increase in steel consumption due to the progress in the construction and automotive sectors. According to calculations, steel consumption in the country may rise to 30 million tons annually by 2030.
