Many South African children go to school on empty stomachs due to food insecurity, which can hinder their socialization and retention of information. Veer Steel Mills has launched its first school feeding program at Hawks Academy, aiming to improve the learning experience for disadvantaged children in South Africa.
The program aims to serve children and ensure quality education in schools. Veer Steel Mills also installed a variable speed booster pump and donated two 10,000L water tanks to the school's borehole, which was drilled and installed by Abcon Group Foundation. The school's principal, Agnes Mkhonto, believes the food program will help students focus on their academics and reduce their concerns about eating on empty stomachs.
