Uzbekistan and Slovakia sign agreement for new plant to produce railway freight wagons

An agreement between Sanoat Energetika Guruhi (Saneg), Gallaaral Management and Slovak industrial group AZC Orbis Invest was signed in Tashkent at the end of June. Under the agreement, it is planned to build a plant to produce railway freight wagons in the Gallaaral Special Industrial Zone in Jizzak province.

Tulkin Yusupov, CEO of Saneg, emphasised that this project is an important step for the company and the entire industry of Uzbekistan. The new freight wagon production facility will significantly improve the logistics infrastructure and increase the efficiency of transport operations.

The production facility will include a complete line for manufacturing various types of wagons, such as tank wagons, hoppers, gondola wagons and covered wagons. The annual production volume will be around 2,000 wagons, which will be used for the logistics needs of the Saneg Group and the entire country.

The Slovak company AZC Orbis Invest sees good market opportunities in the country and is confident that the cooperation will lead to significant developments in logistics and industry.

As previously reported by SteelRadar, Uzbekistan plans to build a metallurgical cluster, which will be located on the territory of the Gallaaral Special Industrial Zone in Gallaaral district of Jizzak region. Within the framework of this project, it is planned to produce up to 1,5 million tonnes of steel products per year from metallurgical raw materials supplied from the Tebinbulak Mining and Metallurgical Combine.

On 27 May 2024, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan started the construction of the pelletizing plant of the Tebinbulak Mining and Metallurgical Combine.
