According to data published by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), crude steel production increased by 0.7% week-on-week to 1 million 733 thousand tonnes in the week ending 16th September. Production increased by 2.9% compared to the same month in 2012.
Steel producers worked at 76.2% of capacity during the week.
Since the beginning of the year, production has decreased by 1.6 per cent compared to the same period last year and was recorded at 63 million 298 thousand tonnes. The capacity utilisation rate of steelmakers during this period was recorded at 76%.
