Total crude steel production in the U.S. for the week of July 13th reached 1,735,000 net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 78.1%. This represents a notable increase compared to the same week last year, which recorded production of 1,689,000 net tons and a capacity utilization rate of 74.3%.
The production also experienced an increase from the previous week ending July 6, during which 1,695,000 net tons were produced with a utilization rate of 76.3%. This week-to-week augmentation amounted to a 2.4% increase in production.
Year-to-date figures indicate a mixed trend. As of July 13, the year-to-date production stood at 47,304,000 net tons at a capability utilization rate of 76.5%. This is a decrease of 2.5% from the same period in the previous year, which recorded a production of 48,502,000 net tons at a utilization rate of 77.3%.
