Import volumes reached 307,996 tons, reflecting a 21.9% decrease from February and a 27.1% reduction compared to the same month in 2023.
In terms of value, March's slab imports amounted to $222.3 million, down from $268.7 million in February and $259.0 million in March last year.
Brazil remained the top exporter of slabs to the U.S., although its shipments dropped significantly to 230,329 tons, from 341,420 tons in February and 325,637 tons in March 2023. Canada and Mexico also contributed with 41,239 tons and 22,598 tons, respectively.
