A previously announced administrative review of the countervailing duty on rebar imports from Türkiye, covering the period from January 1st, 2021 to December 31st, 2022, has been concluded.
The investigation was conducted to determine whether imports of rebar from Türkiye into the United States were trade-distorting, according to the results published by the US Department of Commerce.
Based on the results, final incentive rates were set for certain companies. Kaptan Demir Çelik Endüstrisi ve Ticaret A.Ş. and Kaptan Metal Dış Ticaret ve Nakliyat A.Ş. received a final incentive rate of 5.54%, while Çolakoğlu Metalurji A.Ş. and Çolakoğlu Dış Ticaret A.Ş. received a final incentive rate of 0.03% (considered insignificant). These rates will be used to determine the additional customs duties to be imposed on Turkish companies. The countervailing duties will take effect as of May 1. This decision is expected to have a significant impact on trade relations between Türkiye and the US.
