The latest report from the U.S. Department of Commerce reveals a 4.1% decline in hot-dip galvanized sheet exports for October 2023 compared to the previous month. Despite this, there is an impressive 28.2% year-on-year increase from October 2022.
Totaling $164.5 million, the October exports of hot-dipped galvanized sheets saw a slight decrease from $172.1 million in September but marked a significant uptick from the $137.4 million recorded in the same period last year.
The primary recipients of U.S. hot-dipped galvanized sheets were Canada and Mexico, with 61,420 tons and 58,760 tons, respectively. These figures underscore the strong trade ties between the U.S. and its North American neighbors in the steel industry. Notably, no other significant destinations were reported for U.S. hot-dipped galvanized sheet exports in October.
Observers note that while there was a minor contraction in the month-to-month figures, the robust annual growth suggests a resilient market and ongoing demand for U.S. hot-dip galvanized sheets, contributing to the overall economic landscape.
