According to data from the US Department of Commerce, steel imports in December 2022 increased by 8.6% compared to November to 1,983,268 tons. Steel imports amounted to $2.95 billion in December, compared to $2.79 billion in November and $3.82 billion in December 2021.
The main countries from which the USA imports steel are respectively;
Canada - 473,230 tons
Mexico - 376,497 tons
South Korea - 210,566 tons
Japan - 107,863 tons
Germany - 70,046 tons
The US steel import market share, which was 22% in November 2022 and 24% for all of 2022, is estimated to be 23% in December 2022.
