The Ministry revised its previous provisional decisions and decided to remove 12 products, including six steel products and six aluminum products, from the General Approved Exemptions list.
According to this new regulation, the six steel products, which include products such as flat steel and sections, will now be subject to Article 232 duties. These steel products are identified by the codes 7211296080, 7209900000, 7216330090, 7209270000, 7216100010 and 7208380015 in the Customs Tariff Statistics Position Schedule.
The new tax regulation will enter into force as of July 1, 2024. As of that date, imports of designated steel products will be taxed under Section 232. This step is considered as an important step towards the US' goal of protecting and strengthening the domestic steel and aluminum sectors.
